The Whole30 Program | My Experience

PhotoGrid_1462799540138.jpg

Guess what?? I have conquered the Whole30! It was a challenge to say the least, but the outcome has made it worth while. By changing my eating habits and working out, it has truly been a lifestyle change. Not only do I look better, I feel better. Ive been a sufferer of migraines since high school and I always woke up with them every other day. I havent had one since day 3 of this program! I havent had to take my stomach medication that I’ve been on for 5 years and I wake up feeling refreshed and energized every morning! I lost my bloated belly and slayed my sugar dragon. It has truly helped with all of my health issues and I am down 10 pounds!

Coming Off of the Whole30

I’ve read that a lot of people go back to their old eating habits and dont feel so good. I think it is because your body isnt used to all of the junk. I was out shopping and decided to get a mini ice cream sandwich. BIG MISTAKE! I could hardly eat the whole cookie. It was very sweet and I couldn’t believe that before these 30 days I could eat almost half of a container of chips ahoy! Cheese is also a big issue with my stomach, but it always was. I have just decided to try and avoid it altogether. I still drink my black coffee with cinnamon and will continue to make healthy choices.

My favorite, buffalo chicken salad.

What will you eat now?

A lot of people have asked me if I will start eating “normal” again. I love the way I feel and look, so why would I want to go back to my old eating habits? I have so much more energy, I wake up early, no migraines, no belly pains, there’s just no reason to go back.

We often don’t think about the foods we consume. Eating for fuel instead of pleasure is something a lot of people struggle with. I was guilty of that, too. I would often treat myself to frozen yogurt or candy for accomplishments.

If you’re up for it, give this program a try. It is more than a diet, it is a true lifestyle changer.

I have tried so many different concealers and this is by far my favorite! It covers the dark circles and brightens under my eyes. I will be doing a review of this soon.

Venti Iced Green Tea with Raspberry Syrup.

I’ve literally gone to Starbucks every single day the past 2 weeks just to get this! I’m so obsessed. I’ve been trying to cut back on my caramel macchiatos and I’m happy with this switch to tea. The flavor is so refreshing; perfect for a hot, Florida day. 🙂

I hope you all are lovin’ this new series. Leave comments below about things you are lovin’ and if you want me to try any products out for you.

Relaxation 101 | Do What Makes Your Heart Happy!

PhotoGrid_1435122107046

Sometimes life can get hectic and busy, but we need to remember to  take time out for ourselves. Relaxation is a must to rejuvenate and clear your mind. I know what you’re thinking. There aren’t enough hours in a day. I have way too much on my shoulders right now to take time to myself.  I’m right there with you! It seems I rarely have a minute to breathe between school and work.

While both of those things are important, I am constantly thinking that life is just passing by and I am always looking towards the future. I need to be present and live in the current moment. Over the past couple of weeks, I have been learning to take time to myself and do things that make my soul and heart happy!

Yoga.

Practicing yoga has always been my favorite thing to do. It is my hour to find my inner peace and just let go. Let go of negative energy. Let go of school and work. Let go of whatever it is that is on my mind and just relax. Stretching out my body helps rid of toxins and I always feel long and lean after. I always incorporate other exercises, too. Working out definitely helps me get into that relaxed, energized state and I always feel refreshed!

Candles & Cuddles.

Candles not only warm up a room with a delightful scent, but the smell is relaxing. Preferably scents in vanilla or mint are known to relax the mind and body. I love snuggling up on the couch, candles lit, while watching one of my favorite shows.  Shows are usually 30 minutes to an hour. Take that time to yourself!

Inspiration.

Reading inspirational quotes daily definitely put me in a positive mood. I love reading other peoples blogs and stories. Reading inspirational things helps to motivate others. Knowing that you’re not going through things alone. Family and friends are always great motivators. Having an amazing support system definitely helps me stay on track and work towards my dream even more. One thing that always bothers me is that I’m finally going to have my Bachelors degree at 26. At least I can look back and say i never gave up and will finally be on the path to getting my dream career. Instead of giving up and letting it discourage me, it motivates me to keep going. When you have big dreams, you don’t just throw them away because of age, struggles, or little bumps in the road. I keep pushing on and know that I will make it!

The Great Outdoors.

To this Florida girl, the beach is my idea of the great outdoors. I love the sound of the ocean and the smell of the salty air. Even in the hot temperatures, the beach is a nice place to relax and clear your mind. If you love hiking, skiing, or any other outdoor activity, do it! It’s good to get out, disconnect from the world and smell the fresh air.

Spending Time with my Loved Ones.

Surrounding yourself with loved ones decreases your stress level. Even if they’re loud, funny, and crazy like mine! We always have lots of laughs and fun. Laughing is good for the soul! I always try to see my family at least once a week. Make time to see your family, especially if they are local. Always, always, always make time for your Significant other. Even when our lives get crazy busy, my fiance and I always make time to have a date night or even grab lunch together after class. It is a lot different than the usual dinner at home. It keeps the sparks and romance alive.

Cooking & Blogging.

As you can tell from my blog, I love to cook and I have a blog because I love to write! Taking time out to make delicious meals for my loved ones and blogging to share my ideas makes me happy. It is something I love and enjoy! They are definitely things that make my heart happy!

Little Things.

Sometimes it’s the little things that make us most happy. Saying “Hi,” to strangers. Smiling. Loving. Bubble baths. Manis/Pedis. Glamming up for no reason. Girl time. Reading your favorite magazine or book. Sending out an “I miss you” card. Helping someone in need.  Calling your mom. Sweet tea. Coffee. Don’t forget to say I love you and let people know you care. Dancing. Sushi. Laughing. Singing along to every song on the radio. Acting silly.

Life is always so unexpected and you never know what each day may bring. Stop. Smell the roses (in my case, coffee!). Live life now. Enjoy the little moments that bring you joy. Smile. Don’t ever be afraid to laugh at yourself. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Live for you and nobody else.

What things make your heart and soul happy?
